Terms of Service
Who can use it
You need a current school address at Cal Poly (@calpoly.edu), SDSU (@sdsu.edu) or UCSB (@ucsb.edu), and you must be 13 or older. One account per person. Don’t share your account or sign in as someone else.
What you post
Reviews must be your own first-hand experience of a class you actually took. Write about the teaching, not the person. Specifically, don’t post:
- Anything about a professor’s appearance, race, gender, religion, disability, age, or personal life.
- Claims of fact you can’t stand behind — accusations of misconduct belong with the university, not a rating site.
- Threats, harassment, or anything meant to organise a pile-on.
- Someone else’s personal information, including contact details or schedules.
- Reviews for a class you didn’t take, or written in exchange for anything.
The same rules cover messages, group chat names, your profile and anything else you post. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users: content that breaks these rules is removed, and the account that posted it can be suspended or closed.
You keep ownership of what you write. By posting, you give TermChamp permission to display it in the app. You can report anything that breaks these rules and block anyone, and a person looks at every report within 24 hours. The same rules, written plainly and with the reporting routes, are in the Community Guidelines.
If you are the professor
Reviews are students’ personal opinions, not statements of fact by TermChamp. If a review about you is abusive, names something private, or states something as fact that is false, email support@termchamp.com and it will be looked at by a person. You don’t need an account to ask.
The class data is not official
Seat counts, waitlists, meeting times and instructors come from a scrape of Cal Poly’s public class search, refreshed roughly once a day. It can be stale, incomplete, or wrong. Ratings come from PolyRatings’ public API and are theirs, not ours.
Register through Cal Poly’s own system and check it there. Don’t make a registration decision on TermChamp’s numbers alone. If a seat count here costs you a class, that’s on the scrape being a day old — which is why we stamp when it last ran.
What friends can see
Adding someone as a friend lets them see your class list, and — if you’ve imported your schedule — your sections, meeting times and instructors. Remove the friend and that access stops. Details in Privacy.
Availability and liability
This runs on a student budget. It may break, lose data, or go away. It is provided as-is, without warranty. To the extent the law allows, TermChamp and its author aren’t liable for losses arising from using it — including a class you didn’t get.
Ending it
Delete your account any time from Settings. It is hidden from other students straight away and permanently deleted after 30 days; sign in before then to recover it. When you delete it you choose what happens to your reviews: keep them up with no name on them (the default, because other students rely on them), or delete them with the account. We email you when you ask and again when the deletion is done. Privacy explains this in full. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
Changes and law
These terms can change; the date at the top moves when they do, and significant changes will be announced in the app. Governed by the laws of the State of California.
